Boxes
Boxes are an important part of the removal process. You will want to have a selection of different sized boxes to choose from. It is possible to pick up boxes from the supermarket, although boxes that have been specifically designed for moving your belongings will be much stronger and sturdier.
Sellotape
Sellotape is required to seal your removal boxes. It is best to purchase a thick and strong type of tape, such as a brown tape. When you are sealing the boxes you should cover the top and bottom with several layers of tape to make sure that it is properly sealed.
Scissors
Keep a pair of scissors close to hand, as you may need them to cut tape and other packing materials.
Labels
Labels will let you know what each box contains, so you can find what you are looking for quickly. You can also use fragile labels to indicate what boxes may need special care. A top tip is to write the name of the room that the box needs to go into onto the top of the box. This will help the removal team to put it into the right room when they are unloading the boxes.
Bubble Wrap, Foam and Newspaper
There are a selection of packing materials available which are designed to protect fragile items from being broken or damaged during the move. Bubble Wrap is one of the easiest ways to wrap and protect delicate items. You can use foam pieces to surround items in a box so that they don't move around and damage one another. Finally, you can use recycled newspaper to wrap porcelain items such as crockery. Just remember newspaper print can rub off onto some items, so avoid placing it next to clothing or soft furnishings.
Pens
Keep some marker pens to hand, just in case you need to write some special instructions on any of the boxes.
Buying Packing Supplies
Some removal companies will sell a range of packing supplies, or you can buy them from craft stores and specialist online retailers. When it comes to buying supplies you should always buy more than you think you will need. The last thing that that you will want is to run out of cardboard boxes half way through packing up your belongings. By taking the time to get organized and buy all of the supplies you need, you will be helping to make your move run more smoothly. A great removal team will also help to make your move a little less stressful. Enjoy your new home!
